Hi all,
Happy holidays. And before you switch of mentally/ descend into a pit of despair, today’s Boymom/ I Blame Society discussion group is the last of 2024 is at 9:30am PT, 12:30pm ET/ 5:30pm UK and will be about the concept of male privilege. What is it? is it still a meaningful concept, particularly when it comes to boys and young men? How does it intersect with other forms of privilege and disadvantage (racial, economic etc) and crucially- what are the built in costs?
This was a hot button topic when I was interviewing boys and young men for my book, Boymom. I wrote about the complexities and contradictions of it in this cultural moment, when so many boys and young men don’t feel privileged or powerful at all. I shared a few thoughts about this topic yesterday, and today I would love to hear your thoughts/ questions / fears/ etc at the group. The last couple of discussion groups have been so interesting and thoughtful. So if you are into the idea of a good faith, judgement free community talking about rigorous and complex ideas openly and with respect, this is for you, and it’s not too late to sign up. Open to all paid subscribers (monthly or annual) , any gender/ parenting status / political viewpoint (within reason) etc, so if you would like to join, upgrade to a paid subscription- cancel anytime. And if a paid subscription is financially prohibitive, then just message me and I will sub you, no questions asked.
